BEYOND THE FRAME Ltd

BEYOND THE FRAME Ltd is a London-based film and television production company run by
co-directors Victor Schonfeld and Jenifer Millstone. The company's slate spans scripted drama limited series and returnable series, feature films, and literary projects, with active development across the UK, Canada, the USA and Europe.
VICTOR SCHONFELD is an Anglo-American writer-producer-director whose work across film, television and fiction explores how private lives are shaped — and often distorted — by institutional power, ethics, and belief.
He is perhaps best known for The Animals Film (136 mins), narrated by Oscar-winner Julie Christie, a groundbreaking examination of the exploitation of animals in modern societies. The film generated front-page headlines in several countries, was released theatrically in the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Australia, launched Channel 4's World Cinema slot, was re-released as a British Film Institute classic, and is credited with inspiring generations of vegans. It has never been out of distribution.
His other productions include Shattered Dreams: Picking Up the Pieces (Channel 4, 173 mins), which won the ACE Award for Best International Documentary and received a US cinema release and national broadcast on the Discovery Channel; Courage Along the Divide (ITV, 78 mins), an acclaimed documentary about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; It's a Boy! and Loving Smacks (both Channel 4), examining children's rights; MoneyLove (ITV); and the BBC series One Planet: Animals and Us. His feature documentaries have screened at major film festivals on six continents. In 2013 Schonfeld appeared as an expert witness before the Council of Europe, where his IT'S A BOY! was cited in its landmark report on children's right to physical integrity.
Following a period devoted to literary fiction, illustrated books and journalism, Schonfeld returned to active film and television development with a slate of scripted drama projects spanning thriller, historical drama and comedy.
His journalism and short fiction have appeared in The Guardian, The Independent, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Haaretz and other publications. He holds an MA in Creative Writing from the University of London, where he was awarded a Fellowship for Literary Excellence, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
Victor Schonfeld is a Full Member of BAFTA, Directors UK, and the Writers' Guild of Great Britain, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
JENIFER MILLSTONE is an Anglo-American producer-editor and co-founder of Beyond the Frame Ltd.
Her screen credits include Senior Producer on D-Day Remembered (Guggenheim Productions/Discovery Channel), nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature; Editor on The Brain: Our Universe Within (Discovery Channel/NHK); Co-Producer and Editor on It's a Boy! (Channel 4); Associate Producer on Courage Along the Divide (ITV); and Editor on MoneyLove (ITV), on which she shares the "A Film by" credit with Victor Schonfeld.
She produced and edited Shattered Dreams: Picking Up the Pieces (Channel 4, 173 mins), which won both the ACE Award for Best International Documentary and the Anthropos Festival Award.
Jenifer Millstone holds a Master's degree from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
